The experience of studying abroad can challenge everyone’s ability to stay healthy and balanced. Review the resources below to help stay active and support wellness during your time abroad.

Illness

Excused absences for illness are only given to students for verified cases of illness. Missed classes will be counted against students as part of the absence policy (see the ACU IP Student Handbook in the Policies and Handbook section).  To request an Excused Absence for an illness, students must follow the following steps:  1) Submit your Illness Form before class. 2) Contact your program director or RA via WhatsApp to alert them to your form submission. Please note that you must submit a form for every day that you are ill.

    • Football (soccer):

      • There is a local football pitch (Parque Rodo) 15 min from the house for casual pickup games.

      • Club Nacional de Football hosts matches at the Gran Parque Central Stadium (location of the first world cup!)

      • Uruguay National Team hosts matches at the Centenario Stadium

    • Pickup volleyball, basketball, racquetball games are regularly played throughout the city

    • Football (soccer):

      • There is a local football pitch 5 min from the house for casual pickup games.

      • Oxford City FC hosts local matches at their stadium 20 min from the house.

      • Oxford United FC hosts matches at their stadium 50 min from the house.

    • Rugby: Watch a University of Oxford Rugby match

    • Croquet & badminton: Play a game in the backyard!
