PRE-DEPARTURE ESSENTIALS
ORIENTATION MODULES:
FLIGHT INFORMATION:
All Study Abroad groups will be departing from DFW on their scheduled departure time/day. Students are responsible for their transportation to and from DFW on their departure and return dates. Please pay close attention to Study Abroad communications and orientation materials to ensure you know when/where you should arrive before your flight.
All flight information can be accessed by clicking the “Master Flight Information” button below. All first-leg departing flights are highlighted. Note the tabs which correspond to Study Abroad terms: Fall 2024 (Tab 1), Spring 2025 (Tab 2), and Summer 2025 (Tab 3).
Note that ALL flight deviations (changes to flight return dates) must be requested 45 days before the original flight departure date. Once the outbound leg of a flight has been used passengers are not allowed to change any aspect of their departure date. Please note the flight information below is limited only to ACU Google Drive account holders.
LUGGAGE INFORMATION
ACU purchases tickets (economy class) with normal luggage allowances. This typically includes one piece of check-in luggage, one carry-on, and one personal item (small backpack, purse, etc). Please confirm acceptable luggage weights and dimensions with your particular airline in advance of your journey. The buttons below will route you to baggage information for some of ACU’s most common carrier airlines.
As you prepare for your study abroad experience in the United Kingdom, it’s important to familiarize yourself with the Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) system, a new requirement for travelers from certain countries. The ETA is a digital travel permit that allows you to enter the UK for short-term stays, including study abroad programs. Designed to enhance security and streamline border control, the ETA process is straightforward but essential for ensuring a smooth arrival. In this guide, we’ll walk you through the steps to obtain your ETA, what you’ll need to apply, and how to plan your travel accordingly, so you can focus on making the most of your time abroad.
Before you begin, note that you will need the following: You will need:
an iPhone 7, 7 Plus or newer or Android 8.0 and above
iOS 15 or later - to find the software version installed, go to Settings > General, then About
at least 165MB (Android)-179MB (Apple) of storage space to install the app
to be connected to 3G, 4G, 5G or WiFi
An electronic payment method (credit card, paypal, Apple Pay, etc)
UK ETA VISA PROCESS
Download the UK ETA application:
The visa costs 10 GBP (about $12.50 USD) and is good for up to two years for stays of up to 6 months in the UK. (So start making your plans for a return trip!)
3. Make a payment:
Once you submit payment, you’ll need to wait for confirmation that your application has been accepted. Typically, this takes between 24-72 hours. You can delete the app when you’ve finished applying. Your ETA will be linked to your passport digitally, and you will not need to show anything else when you enter the UK.
