TRAVEL

Before you take your next trip…

1. Register your travel (each weekend!)

Registering your travel is critical for us in the event of an emergency. You can register your trip through VIA by clicking the button to the right. Be sure you register your travel every Thursday night by 11:59 p.m., even if you are remaining in your host city. Click here for a quick video guide that will lead you through the process.

2. Confirm the safety level of your location

State Department Travel Safety: The U.S. State Department ranks safety conditions worldwide using a 4-level ranking system. Travel is only allowed in countries with safety rankings of 1 or 2 (without lines). Please check the US State Department Travel Map on your right for your intended destinations' most up-to-date travel information and safety levels.

3. Register your trip with STEP

Register your trip with the US State Department’s STEP Program: The Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) is a free service that allows U.S. citizens and nationals traveling and living abroad to enroll their trip with the nearest U.S. Embassy or Consulate. In the case of an emergency, the local embassy is aware of your presence and can offer emergency support if/when needed. We recommend all travelers register their trips through the STEP program

4. Do you need to apply for a Travel Exemption?

Travel Exemptions: Travel to countries ranked as Level 2 (with lines), Levels 3, or Level 4 is prohibited without university approval.  Students who travel to prohibited locations without receiving a Travel Exemption will receive sanctions which can include dismissal from an ACU Study Abroad Program. If you would like to request an exemption, please click below and fill out the form below.
